How to Apply for an Event

  1. Download and complete the application form
  • Scroll down to download the required event application forms.
  • Ensure all required sections are completed accurately.
  1. Gather supporting documents

     Ensure you have the necessary documents, including:

  • Proof of identity
  • Event plan (location, dates, expected attendance)
  • Safety and risk assessment
  • Section 6 SAPS application
  • Proof of zoning compliance certificate (issued by Town Planning) or proof of departure/5-year occasional use approval (if applicable)
  • Event program (if available)
  • Additional permits (e.g., liquor license, environmental approvals) if required.
  1. Submit your application

     Send your completed application and supporting documents to:

     In-person: Economic Development & Tourism Office, 19 Long Street, Bredasdorp

  1. Application review & approval process
  • The Events Office is your one-stop shop for all event-related applications and approvals.
  • The Municipal Event Coordinator will review your application for completeness within 3 business days. If any documents are missing, you will be notified.
  • The Municipal Event Committee will evaluate your application based on event classification, safety, legal compliance, and zoning.
  • If a zoning deviation is required, a 30-day public participation period will follow before final approval.
  • You will receive feedback within 30 days of processing.
  1. Important information
  • Event organizers are required to submit applications at least 60 days before the event date. However, as part of our awareness campaign, we will be lenient with applications submitted before the full 60-day requirement takes effect.

    The 60-day countdown starts from 25 March 2025 and will lapse on 24 May 2025. Event organizers are encouraged to apply as soon as possible, but there is no need to panic during this transition period

  • If approved, you will receive an official Event Permit, which must be displayed at the event site.
  • Additional fees may apply for municipal services such as waste management, road closures, or electricity supply (no event application fees required at the moment).
  • Compliance: Approved events must follow municipal regulations.
  • Appeals: If your application is denied, you may submit an appeal within 21 days.
  • Appeals related to zoning decisions must be submitted under Section 79 of the Cape Agulhas Municipal Land Use Planning By-law (2022).
  • Event organizers are encouraged to hire local suppliers and service providers.
