‘Digging’ De Hoop Archaeology Day 2026

Join us for an immersive program introducing De Hoop, SapienCE, and the Origins of Early Southern Sapiens exhibition, combining hands-on workshops, guided tours, and expert talks.

Participants explore prehistoric technologies through fire experiments, stone toolmaking, use-wear analysis, and crafting tools and ornaments, while learning how scientists identify animals from bones and reconstruct past behavior.

The experience is enriched by landscape exploration of the Klein Karoo, direct engagement with researchers, and a lecture on Later Stone Age coastal lifeways and changing food practices.
