Implementation of the Fynbos Walking Trail in Struisbaai

Official notice from Agulhas Erfenis & Bewaring (AEB) announcing the implementation of the Fynbos Walking Trail in Struisbaai.

The municipality, the Department of Environmental Affairs (Western Cape), and Heritage Western Cape have all officially approved the project. The association is now calling on members and interested parties to assist with the trail’s development in three major ways:

🛠️ 1. Volunteer for Trail Clearing

The community is invited to help remove invasive acacia (rooikrans), dead wood, and construction debris over three scheduled days:

  • Wednesday, 28 Oct: 09:00 to 13:00
  • Friday, 30 Oct: 09:00 to 13:00
  • Saturday, 31 Oct: 09:00 to 13:00
  • Contacts to help: Danie (083 272 0113), Almarie (082 572 4413), or Emmerentia (072 601 6168).

🏷️ 2. Name the Walking Trail

The association is looking for creative and engaging name suggestions for the trail. Ideas can be sent via WhatsApp to any of the contacts listed above.

💰 3. Financial Donations

The total project budget is R15,000 for timber, debris removal, labor, and signage. While R4,000 has already been raised, they are seeking further contributions:

  • Tax Benefit: Donations are tax-deductible under Section 18A of the Income Tax Act.
  • Payment Details: Direct payments can be made to their Nedbank account (1342098161).
  • Financial Queries: Contact Nico (082 990 4314) or Bernie (083 627 5912).
